RSCF support for the Honduras Coffee Project

Ecotierra has been a partner of the Restoration Seed Capital Facility since August 2021 and is the advisor to the Urapi Sustainable Land Use Fund. The fund invests in sustainable agroforestry projects in Latin America. RSCF support has been used for entering new geographies, undertaking pre-feasibility studies for projects, and developing projects in Honduras and Peru.

One example is the Honduras Coffee Project, designed to rehabilitate 2000 hectares of old coffee plantations and install or completely renovate cocoa and coffee agroforestry systems on approximately 4000 hectares of degraded land. It also seeks to invest in about 10000 hectares between forest plantations (ARR) and forest enrichment areas (secondary forest) for beekeeping production.

RSCF co-financing helped cover due diligence and legal costs to bring the project to investment by the fund. The project was approved by the Investment Committee of the Fund in December 2023.
